Never Send A D**k Pic

Feels kind of strange that we actually need to write a blog about this, but we were inspired by recent events (not what you are thinking) So here goes… Recently we purchased ads in the Toronto subway system. Here’s a few of them:

This #BeBetter Campaign was conceived and created out of the belief that we all want to be better people. Constantly trying to improve ourselves and the world around us. That’s why we do The Gentlemen’s Expo. It’s our chance to put on (what we feel) is a great event full of learning, tips, and experiences that will educate and entertain.

Keeping It Real

While designing the actual pieces of creative, we wanted to be truly authentic. Authentic with the copy and authentic with the message, but most of all  authentic with how humans actually behave. Some of the creative shines a light on self improvement. Like the “beard” sign above. It’s a simple tip on grooming that most people may even already know.

We asked the ladies in our office what are some pet peeves they have with the men of today. One answer kept repeating itself.

The Creative

When we submitted our creative to the subway ad people (keeping them nameless because they have not done anything wrong here) we sort of expected that one of our pieces of creative would get some push back. Our sales rep even gave us the heads up that the ‘d*** pic’ one may not fly. We accept that. Kids ride the subway. Families ride the subway. People probably don’t want to see the word D*** first thing in the morning when on a packed Subway. What if a child learns about what a d*** pic is from us? How gentlemanly is it for us to be putting this ‘out there’? We get it. We are totally cool with this ad getting cut out of our subway plan, but that doesn’t make the actual message any less, does it?

The Ad

So here it is. Re-sized it a bit so we can post it elsewhere, but you get the idea. I guess what we are saying is that sending a photo of your junk to anyone, ever, is not cool.  Let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
